Baby cable baby socks

I can't make it to my nephew's christening in December, but I'm making him some soft, warm socks.

This is a modification of Wendy's pattern, but downsized to fit an infant. It is a 2x2 rib with a baby cable in the knit stitches. I use Judy's magic cast-on and the magic loop.
Yarn--Sandnes Garn Lanett
Needle--US 1 / 2.25 mm
CO 12 stitches using Judy's magic cast-on. Increase 4 stitches every round, 4 times. (28 stitches)
Increase 4 stitches every other round, 4 times. (44 stitches)
Separate sole (24 stitches) and instep (20 stitches). Place markers.
For sole, knit all stitches.
For instep, K1 *P2 K2 * repeat to last 3 stitches P2 K1, for 3 rounds
on 4th round, K1 *P2 knit second stitch, knit first stitch, drop both stitches off needle * repeat to last 3 stitches, P2 K1
Repeat pattern until length is 2.75 inches. Begin gusset increases. Increase two sole stitches every other round until sole has 40 stitches.
Heel turn--K 23 ssk K1 turn
continue following instructions from pattern.
Begin knitting in the round again, following the established pattern and extending it to the stitches that had been the sole stitches. Knit up the leg as much as you like (but remember babies have chunky legs).
